About Me
Welcome to my about me page. I am Emily Waytoti, licensed home improvement contractor and owner of Build & Blossom Home Improvement. My background is in design, construction, and installation of green spaces and built elements. I earned a masters of environmental management and use landscape design principles in my work. I have worked for over a decade of designing and managing home improvement projects.
I am originally from Florida and grew up in California, helping my father on all types of home improvement projects. My aunt also made a career of real estate and home renovations. My family instilled in me the idea that we should all try to leave the world a little better than we found it, and where better to start than in our own backyard. My family is also where my DIY and can-do spirit started.
Why did I start Build & Blossom Home Improvement?
I have over 10 years of home improvement experience and share my passion and experience with remodeling and landscape design. I started Build & Blossom Home Improvement to fill a gap in the market for homeowners looking for personalized, high-quality design-build services for both interior and exterior spaces. Build & Blossom Home Improvement is unique since I use a landscape design approach for indoor-outdoor living. That philosophy is part of my about me story.
How Did I Get into Remodeling?
I realized that I had a passion for home improvement when I bought my first home in 2013. I immediately designed and managed kitchen and bath remodels, down to the studs, and added french doors out to a new deck landing. Over the last ten years I learned by doing, gaining first-hand experience by working with several general contractors. I was disappointed with my experience and decided to serve as my own contractor, designing and managing my own projects and teams of tradesmen directly.

What is working with me like?
Home remodeling and landscape design are truly fun for me. It is rewarding to share my passion and experience to help my clients avoid frustrations that I felt as a homeowner and make the process painless, accessible, and even fun. I enjoy the creative processes of visualizing a finished project and then the hands-on creative solutions and attention to detail to make it reality. I most enjoy seeing my clients’ inspiration and anticipation as we work together to define their creative vision, and then seeing their eyes light up when they see the finished product “reveal.” My goal is for your experience working with me to be enjoyable for you as well.
